Lev Sokolshchik took part in a discussion with NATO officials (10/09/20)

Lev Sokolshchik (PhD, Candidate of Science, a research fellow of the Centre of Comprehensive European and International Studies of HSE) took part in an online discussion with NATO officials. Within the framework of the meeting, issues related to global and regional security, Russia–NATO relations, the strategic force balance in Europe, and the prospects for the NATO development as a military-political block were discussed.

Particularly, Lev Sokolshchik raised the question of the way the Alliance responds to the growth of illiberal political parties in Western countries, as well as to other existential challenges. In addition to various aspects of relations between Russia and the NATO countries, problems of the Post-Soviet space development, such as the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Ukraine, and Belarus, were touched upon.
