The informal occasion for the conversation was the release of Kosevich’s new book, Extra-regional Powers in Latin America in the 21st Century: The Impact of the US, EU, China, and Russia, published in 2024 by the leading international academic publisher BRILL (Netherlands) and included in the “A List” of the Higher School of Economics (HSE).

In the interview, the author addressed questions related to the main research focus of the monograph: the role of extra-regional actors — the United States, China, the EU, and Russia — in the new system of international relations that has taken shape in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean in the early 21st century.

The conversation was conducted by renowned Latin Americanist Andrés Serbin Bartos, Chair of the Academic Council of the Regional Coordinator for Economic and Social Research of the Argentine National Research Center (CRIES).

Having already read Kosevich’s book, he praised the high quality of analysis and the scholarly novelty of the study, as well as the engaging discussion with the Russian expert on Latin America.
