Climate, water, food: new structural factors of global development

The project has been implemented since 2009 and is aimed at studying the impact of climate change, water and food shortages on international political and economic processes. The key elements of the new strategy of the Russian Turn to the East were based on the first results of the project in 2010-2012, which was reflected in the policy statements of the top management and a number of institutional decisions.

The project represents a new approach to understanding the nature and causes of the balance of economic and political power in the world, which is based on giving priority to the problems of climate change, water and food scarcity. Though before the balance of power was determined by the presence of military power, the scale and level of economic development, now the competent use of new structural factors of the world economy and politics is becoming a new important lever of influence at the international arena, which means, among other things, the establishment of deep partnerships with the growing countries of Asia.
