Scientific online seminar «Making sense of Turkey's humanitarian diplomacy in the context of emerging poly-centric world order»

The Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies, Higher School of Economics, invites to participate in the scientific online seminar «Making sense of Turkey's humanitarian diplomacy in the context of emerging poly-centric world order» on April 13, 2021 from 16:00 to 18:00 Moscow time. Within the framework of the scientific seminar, Tarik Oguzlu, a professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Antalya Bilim University, will present a report on the peculiarities of Turkey's humanitarian diplomacy in the context of the emerging polycentric world order, discussants will be Veronika V. Tsybenko(Southern Federal University) and Pavel V. Shlykov ( Institute of Asian and African Studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University).
Nowadays, a growing role of humanitarian instruments in Turkey`s foreign policy, which in recent years has managed to expand its influence in several regions of the world, is becoming evident. What is the basis of the humanitarian diplomacy of modern Turkey? What changes have affected the country's humanitarian diplomacy in recent years? What are the most effective tools of Turkey's humanitarian diplomacy? During the scientific seminar, the leading Russian and foreign experts will answer these and other questions.

Key Speaker:

Tarik Oguzlu - a professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Antalya Bilim University. The research interests include the westernization of Turkey's foreign policy, its security and defense policy, Turkish-Greek relations, the Cyprus issue, transatlantic relations and NATO, and the foreign policy of the European Union and the Middle East.

Discussants:

Veronika V. Tsybenko – the head of Center for Interdisciplinary Humanitarian Studies of the Southern Federal University and the member of the editorial board of the scientific journal "Humanities and Legal Studies". She has published more than 100 scientific articles in Russian, English and Turkish languages, and presented more than 70 scientific reports in Russia, Turkey, Great Britain and other countries. The research interests include domestic political and socio-cultural processes in Turkey and the role of Turkey and the Caucasus in the system of modern international relations.

Pavel V. Shlykov – Associate Professor at the Institute of Asian and African Studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The research interests include history and political development of Turkey, history of the Middle East, international relations in the Middle East, Russian-Turkish relations, civil society.
